Christmas Eve

Mia got all dressed up for Christmas Eve dinner.

Mia's First Solids

Since Mia turns 6 months on Wednesday, she got to try solids for the first time this week. She enjoyed finally getting "real" food (if you can call rice cereal mixed 1:4 with breast milk real food).

Mia waits in anticipation while Mom prepares the food.

She was very interested in the plastic bib.

Her First Bite!

"Hey, give it back!"

"Oh, some rice cereal got on Mom's hand. Mmm, mmm good."

"Let me try this whole spoon thing."

"Dad, will you be daring enough to feed me next?"

W Family Picture

Nina and Taid got to have all of their kids and respective families together for the first full family picture with Mia in attendance.

Christening

Mia was baptized at the early morning service on Sunday, the 23rd. We have many friends and family able to attend both the christening and join us for breakfast after.

Christmas is Coming

Mia is starting to excited for Christmas. She watched this weekend with great interest as we brought in the tree and set it up in our living room.Friday Night Lights:
What will Mommy and Daddy do next?

Mia hangs her first ornament (well, technically, she is pictured unhanging her first ornament).
A few special ornaments to celebrate Christmas 2007.

Now Dad, we need to discuss this present thing I've heard so much about...

Learning to Share

Wednesday evening was spent at Polly and Emma's house. We were also joined by Kate and Anna. Emma, Anna, and Mia were all born within about a week of each other.

Mia and Anna spent some quality time on the floor

Tasting each other's toys...

Deciding that maybe your toy that you didn't want before looks better when it is in someone else's mouth...

Determining that it is possible for you to both gnaw on the same toy at the same time...
(Talk about close friends!)

And at the end of the day, you sit back and relax with the party host,
or rather put up with your mothers forcing you into one chair for some cute pictures.

Umm... A little help here, Mom.

Mia's Last Day Home Sick

Mia is finally recovered enough from her cold and bronchiolitis to go back to day care. Here are some pictures from her last day being spoiled at home by Mom and Dad.

The Wonders of Tylenol

Last night, after our fun walk in the snow, Mia started to get fussy. She nursed and fell asleep fitfully in Mom's arms. If we stopped rocking our bouncing on the exercise ball, she awoke crying. This went on for 2 hours until Dad came home. Mia just wasn't herself. She was lethargic and just kept crying softly.

We took her temperature and (after experiencing the laxative effects of the rectal thermometer) found her to have a fever of 100.8 oF. Then came the Tylenol. A quick phone call to the on-call nurse to determine how much to give her based on her current weight of 13 lbs 12 oz and 45 minutes later we had our little girl back.

It was incredible. She was alert and interactive, clearly feeling so much better than an hour ago's fitful crying.

The Tylenol seems to be continuing to work as she's now down to 99.8 oF as of this morning. She'll be staying home today with Mom to ensure she's all better. Wish Mom luck as she tries to work and care for a sick baby. Cross your fingers for long naps.

Meteorological Mayhem

The weatherman was remarkably right about this particular snowstorm.  Native Washingtonians (the "g" is silent) know that when the weatherman predicts 1-2 inches of snow, it really means maybe we'll get a light dusting.  And in December, it means if you're lucky, we'll get a light dusting... but it's actually going to start getting cold now, so wear your winter coat.

But the weatherman was right.  And two inches of snow is enough for us to get excited about, put Mia in her snowsuit and throw her outside to tromp around in the snow.

We may have been a bit over-eager to hope for "tromping."  And Mia's snow angels didn't come out so well (too much rolling and flailing). Here's Mia all tuckered out from her play.

Mia's First Snow

Mia experienced her first snow fall today. Snow was still falling this morning, though not much was sticking and all will probably be gone in an hour or two.
